A heartwarming children's picture book about Russ, a brave Cape Parrot whose forest home is disappearing. Join Russ as he soars through the skies of South Africa in search of safety, friendship, and hope for his endangered species.
A beautifully illustrated story that introduces young readers to the importance of conservation and the magic of one of Africa's rarest birds.
It could be difficult to tackle a serious topic like extinction, but Lulu's (Linda Fellowes) inspiring book about Russ and the plight of his fellow Cape Parrots was so easy to understand. A book which adults should definitely read to their children and to themselves. One is rooting for Russ and his pandemonium (the collective noun for parrots) through this poignant story, which is showcased by magnificent illustrations.

I enjoyed Russ the High Flyer. The story follows Russ, a Cape Parrot, as he navigates life in South Africa's forests, showing his family, friends and the challenges his species faces. I found the illustrations especially engaging, as they brought the forest, rivers and wildlife vividly to life. The book is both entertaining and educational, making it a thoughtful introduction for children to the Cape Parrot and the importance of conservation. It balances story and visuals in a way that young readers will appreciate.
